About my New Conditional GC

I would like to know if there are any types of restrictions on the conditional GC as far as traveling outside the US goes. Is it possible to travel to europe for example ? or should I wait until I have applied for the removal of the conditions and received the permanent GC after 2 years? ...I was told that traveling to europe from the US, even as a lawful permanent resident, requires applying for a French visa if I needed to go on vacation in France for example. I'm thinking maybe I wouldn't be granted the visa given that my status in the US is so far temporary ( I'm only assuming ,not familiar with the process )
