New Reentry Permit

Hello,

I already have a re-entry permit that is due to expire in November of 2008. I was wondering is it possible to apply for a new one as I may be outside the US until sometime in 2009?

Yes and thanks for that but I really want to know can some obtain a new reentry permit if the old one is about top expire. I plan to travel to the USA in the New Year and can renew it then.
