  • Name change

    Hi,
I have my married last name on my GC but haven't changed it on my passport yet (which won't expire until 2010). Can I still travel abroad? Or will they give me a hard time?
    Thank you!

      don't worry

Just travel with your passport, green card, and your marriage certificate, where it says your maiden name and your new married name. I traveled like this a couple of times and had no problem. After this I didn't want go travel with my marriage certificate so I went to my country's consulate (embassy) and they put a stamp on my current passport that said that I had a new married name. Maybe you can do this in you country's consulate, if not, don't worry. Travel with the documents I told you and you'll be fine.

        similar issue

        Hi,

Planning to travel to India soon and have the following situation:

Full name in old passport, GC, ID etc: SHEENA SHRESTHA
Full name in new passport after renewal: SHEENA SHRESTHA SINGH

Added husband's last name SINGH and used the maiden name (SHRESTHA) as middle name now.

But GC and others still have SHEENA SHRESTHA.

Will there be any problem entering to the US after the trip?

Thanks a lot for any feedback.
        Sheena.
