Conditional green card..urgent

i filed my I-751 and got the letter for one year extension of green card..somebody told me that i should get an I-551 stamp in my passport before i go to my homecountry....so i went to the USCIS office but they said i dont need it since the letter says my green card is extended for one year.... i want to make sure if this is true as i am leaving in a week

You can re-enter with your expired GC alongside the new extension letter.
