Retaining Greencard

I got my greencard on nov 9th 2007. I am out of the U.s from May 23rd 2007. I came here for a vacation and had to stay back because of unavoidable situations. My children are studying here in India.

Please help me with the best possible way to maintain my greencard. On May 9th.
