I got my green card 4 weeks ago but the INS made a mistake on it (My b'day). When i called the 800 number they told me I had to file an I-90 and send the card back (which I did). They also confirmed, as they made the mistake, I will not have to pay and I will not receive a receipt. I also explained I need to leave the US in July for a biz trip so they told me I had to fix an appointment thru infopass and get a stamp on my passport.
Today I get to the office and the officer tells me they can't stamp my passport because it results the I-90 has not been processed yet (I shipped it 3 weeks ago and they said it usually takes 30-60 days). I explained them I really need the stamp or I will lose my job, but they didn't help me. She said to fix a new appointment in 2 weeks and try again. My question is...is it really true what she said? I mean, I got my green card....I don't see why they can't just help me out and stamp my passport....if it really take 60 days I won't be able to leave when I'm supposed to. Do they really need to see on the computer that the INS received my I-90 before they can help me out? Also does it really take 180 days to get such a simple correction on the card? Please I need help!!
