Re-entry dilemma?

My wife and I have been PRs since Apr 2008. Now we are planning to go to India (considering) for an employment offer. This employment is with a US MNC and is in India. The offer is not for a temporary period. Rather, we plan to return back in less than 2 years time (20 months or so). Additionally, we plan to have a child while in India. Hence given this situation, is it advisable to even explore this offer? is the chance of returning on the reentry too risky? How will the child enter with us (what status)?
