  • lost a green card, I need your help!

    Hello!
My son lost a green card and driver license.
He lives in USA during 8 years and he has a green card for 5 years.
He wanted to replace a driver license but they told him that he need to have a green card.
If he will replace a green card how can he get a driver license?
Can he apply for U.S. citizenship now if he doesn't have a green card?
Can he get a Temporary resident alien card or some document which can prove that he is Permanent resident if he will apply for replacement of his Permanent resident alien card? or for U.S. citizenship?
    Thank you for help

Your son must visit the local USCIS office to get more information. The USCIS replaces your green card for one of the following reasons:

    a. You can replace your green card status if your green card was issued before your age of 14.
    b. You can also replace your green card status if your previous green card was stolen, destroyed, mutilated or stolen.
    c. Even if you were a commuter and at present want to have a permanent resident card in America you need to replace your green card status.
    d. Even when you were a permanent resident of America and at present want to have a commuter’s status you would need to replace your green card status.
    e. When you have a previous version of foreign registration card and want to replace it with the new one then you would require to replace your green card status immediately.
    f. When your name or your biographical information on the green card has been changed legally when you had received you card it becomes legal for you to replace your green card status.

In order to replace your green card status it usually takes three to ten months or normally depends on the information you have provided. However, if your son is traveling abroad during this process ithen he must have his passport stamped with I-51 at the INS office.
