Reentry permit: Temp travel while waiting for biometrics appointment

Hello,

I'll be out of the country for a year starting in May and I've already applied for a re-entry permit; I'm a permanent resident. However, I need to make a short business trip to Asia asap; I would be back in USA in time for the biometircs appointment. Is that OK or would that trip invalidate my application for re-entry permit. The instructions aren't very clear in this regard.

Did anyone do such a thing?

I think you have to be in america the whole processing time; until youve received the apointment letter for the biometrics rquirement then you can left for asia.

For the sake of posterity:

I called USCIS twice. The first time, the agent wasn't sure. The second time, the agent told me that all they need is for me to show up in person on the appointment date; they don't care if I traveled before or after that date.

So it is up to you decide whether you want to travel or not. Based on this info, I was prepared to travel. But then I got my appointment earlier than I expected so I postponed my travel plans so that I'm here until the appointment date.
