Green Card/Re-Entry

Hi,

Missing from US 11 months, and having no good reason for this, what can I claim so I should not loose my green card status from the entry authorities? Any strong and valid claim, since I cannot prove a permanent residence?

I would like to thank you for your respond and congratulate all your associates for the excellent work you do. The answers you provide are the most complete and clear I have ever noticed in the net! I got all the information and more.

In case you may help in a special point, I would be thankful, once more. When I entered, first time last year, in US, as a fresh green card owner, my passport was stamped, including the date of arrival. This did not happened the day of my departure, weeks after(!?) How exactly the INS authorities can estimate, how long I have been out of the country?

There is no stamping at the time of departure. It is your reponsibility to
keep track by keeping boarding passes etc.
