urgent help required regarding gc

it is 1 year 10 months i have been in india due to family problems, i am a gc holder, my husband is a green card holder and is working in united states, my both sons are us citizens and are staying with me,my husband says i can return to the us with a medical letter without re entry permit,he says he has asked the lawyer there, there will no problem, will i be allowed into the country ? please help me, my tickets are booked.

your green card is gone. absence of 1 year or more without re-entry permit terminates your status.

you need to apply for a returning resident visa SB-1

if i fly from india how will they know if my stay in india is more than one year or not, they have taken anything from me at the time of my departure, will i be stopped at indian airport or the united states airport? if i am lucky will i not be allowed to enter the united states without the re entry permit, will i just be sent back
