My wife and I are travelling outside the US for about 7 months. We are going to be in about 8 countries during that period of time. I am a US citizen and she has been a permanent resident since Feb 2007. After we return to the US, we do not expect to make any trips greater than 6 months.
I have two questions:
1. Would there be a problem for my wife to re-enter the country with a green card after 7 months? We continue to maintain addresses, bank accounts etc. in the US.
2. Would there be any issue with he applying for naturalization in 2010 when she would be eligible? During the period that we are away, she continues to work with an agent in NY to sell her book (she is a writer) and continues to write a blog in the SF chronicle. We will also be filing taxes for 2009 as residents.
Any comments/suggestions/experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Arvind
