  • Green Card

I am hoping that you can help. I was given my green card sometime in 2004/2005 my older sister who is a Doctor in the US sponsored me. My children where all the UK also I was halfway through completing a course thus I rarely stayed in the USA. To make matters worst the times that I travelled to America I travelled on my British passport. My plan was to move to the USA this September.

Anyhow on a recent trip to USA through Dallas I was advised to surrender my card by completing form1-407. I was kept there for a while and eventually agreed reluctantly. Anyhow I explained to the officer what my intentions where and he explained that when I am ready to apply for a SB1 form a returning resident visa.

I am unsure where to turn for specific information, my bags are packed but I am unsure what to do next.

    Please can you assist me.

I recommend that you read https://www.immihelp.com/retain-greencard-useful-tips/

One thing to note: While you are green card holder, you are still non US citizen. And you still have to travel on your foreign passport as you can't apply for US passport. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with that.
