Green Card

Dear Sir,

I must say first of all that I find your site to be extremely helpful. However I would be grateful to receive your best answer regarding the following:

1)I am entitled to obtain a green card after being qualified through the DV lottery program. How long do I have to wait to get my green card after crossing US borders?
2)Can I move to my country of origin for say one year, before I actually receive the plastic green card?
