  • Green card and going to the usa as a visitor (tourist)

    Hello,

I am belgian (I do not have the american citizenship) ; I’ve lived in the USA for 14 years, I obtained a green card through marriage ; unfortunately, we divorced and so I decided to move back to my country, Belgium, about two years ago.

I would like to visit a friend in the USA for one week in the future; my green card is expiring in a few years but I have not been back to the USA for two years at least. I wanted to know if I could just use my passport to travel to the USA as a tourist (as I am not planning on living in the USA anymore). Or do I need a permit to re-enter the USA just to go there on vacation for a week? Or should I take my passport and my green card with me on the trip? What is my status? And is my green card still necessary?

    Thank you for your answer.

Your green card has already expired.

You can enter the US using visa waiver program. Details at http://www.immihelp.com/visa-waiver-program/
