I've been trying to find out some information about maintaining a green card but can't find anything for my situation.
I have been married to a US citizen since August 2008 and received my conditional green card in April 2009.
However, my husband and I are planning to move to Australia where my family lives in June of 2010. We have no idea how long the stay will be, but expect that we might live there for more than 2 years.
As his family are all US citizens living in the US, we definitely plan to return for visits every year and intend to return to the US at some point. We will maintain bank accounts in the US, drivers licenses and will file US tax returns.
My question is this - being married to a US citizen, should I lose my green card by living abroad, will I be able to reapply for a green card when needed a few years down the road? (i.e. start the entire green card application again)
How else can I maintain a greencard living overseas for up to 5 years? I believe the form 131 is only for up to 2 years and i'm not a missionary so I'm not sure about applying for form N470.
