I am a permanent resident with a green card living in Florida. I am supposed to be in New Zealand for 6 months. According to the information I obtained, you need to have a re-entry permit if you are to be out of US more than 6 months consecutively (or more than a year in total). Does this include 6 months sharp? I will leave on March 22 and come back on September 21 (which will be exactly 6 months). Should I make the return flight earlier just to be on a safe side?
