My husband recieved his CGC in January of 2009. In October 2010 we must apply for removal of conditions. However, he will be out of the US for work (a touring musician) from late August through November. His GC expires 01/11, so he should be fine with re-entry. But I am worried that he might miss the appointment if one is made for us while he is working outside the US. He is also due to be touring the US starting in February. The US tour will be spread out over the entire year (6weeks on, 6 weeks off, ect) so windows of opportunity are rather small. I will be sending a cover letter explaining the situation along with all supporting documents (joint tax return, copies of bank statements, photos, afidavits, ect). I have read here that it is also possible for the petition to be granted without an interview. Should I ask for this option in the cover letter with supporting statements from his employer verifying the planned tours? Or should we take the chance that we might get an interview when he is in town?
Another question, how long should it take for him to recieve the 1 year extention letter (I forget the number of that document)? He will need to carry it with him when his GC expires but it could be problematic and risky trying to foward it to him while he is traveling.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
