  • Green Card Holder - 6 Month Passport Validity Rule

Firstly, I'm confused if the less than 6 months on your passport rule applies in America.

I am a British citizen, UK passport expires in May 2020, Green Card Holder.

I'm going back to England for Xmas, and will be re-entering America early January 2020 with my USC Husband.

Will my passport be an issue?

The requirement in your case is to have an unexpired passport while entering the US.

Actually, the US government does not require that people with a valid green card have a passport at all to re-enter the US. However, the airline most likely will want a passport.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

For a non-stop flight combined with a copy of the Carrier Information Guide, a green card holder should be able to talk her/his way onto the flight.
