After GC, Police Verification Expiry

Folks,
My parents GC is approved and has got the passport stamped to Travel to US by jan 2011. Question - The Police Verification done for Immigrant Visa was done/valid from Aug 10 '09 to Aug 9 '10. Does a Immigrant Visa holder need a current Police Verification when he Travels ? Thanks

Checked with NVC and found that Police Certificate is not required after you got your Green card approval from consulate
