Hi All,
I have Greencard now which needs to be renewed next month, but I am wondering instead can we (me and my wife and son is born in US)
apply for US citizenship, which would help if we ever want to come back again as we are thinking to go to India for good.
So my questions are as below assuming we get/have US citizenship,
1. Can i still work in India or do I need visa?
2 Can we buy land and house (i know we can not buy agricultural land & vote), cant think any other disadvantage.
3. Would there be significantly higher tuition fees for my son for his education if none of us are Indian citizens.
He is currently six years old.
4. If we decide to get Indian citizenship back by returning the US citizenship for me & my wife, is it allowed?
can we also get Indian citizenship for my Son on the basis of parents are born in India and now they have Indian citizenship.
5. While me being US citizenship and working in India, how does the income tax work? Do i pay more tax in India and take credit
for that as I assuming I have to file tax in US too.
6. If we leave US for long time while on green card ( i know max is 1 year), is there a procedure or exception to
come back to US even after several years staying outside US and renewing green card again. If there is something like that then
we don't need to apply for US citizenship.
