Hi All,
My sister and her family recently migrated in the US under E31 category while her dependent is on E34 and E35. They already got their GC via mail and she had her SSN already received. Her dependents have not received any SSN yet for the past 4 weeks. What do they need to do? they have already went to the local social service office and they were asked to have her spouse apply for Work permit and her child a school enrollment certification.
We are confused as to why the spouse need a Work permit wherein he has already a green card and a permanent resident? Should've they already be given automatically an SSN since they already had their green cards registered on the feds?
What should be the correct process? Let me know your thoughts!
