  • I damage my resident card.

I’m renewing my resident card for the first time. On Feb 16 they received it. I also received a letter extending my resident card for a year. Later they tell me I don’t have to go to biometrics. But my resident card was damage is cut in half. What should I do?

Why did you cut in half your green card?

Use this form to replace your Permanent Resident Card (also known as your Green Card).

If you have a 10 year permanent GC file an I-90. You can do it online.

If that is a 2 year conditional GC, you cannot file an I-90.

And keep your Green Card in a safe filing folder or something, it is your proof of legal status in the US. Having your kid access to it seems quite unusual.

        Cheers
