Immediate Travel to India due to Family Emergency - lost green card

Hello all,

I need to go to India due to a family emergency and I just realized that I misplaced the green card, unfortunately... What are my options to travel ASAP and be able to come back to USA without issues?

Ideally you should file I-90 (with $540 fee) to replace your green card and then make an appointment at a local USCIS office to get an I-551 stamp in your passport before you leave. Otherwise, (assuming someone doesn't find your green card and mail it to you abroad) you would have to file I-131A (with $575 fee) at a US consulate for a transportation letter to convince the airline to board you for the flight back to the US (and you would still have to file I-90, with $540 fee, when you get back).

Thanks for the response... I did file I-90 and requested an emergency appointment for an I-551 stamp in my passport. They gave a slot for tomorrow but I still visited the USCIS office and they allowed me in and got it stamped.
