Pls advise. I have sponsored my parents and they have already made their entry almost 2.5 months ago but have yet to receive their green card. They will need to be leaving soon because they have not settled their assets in their home country. I know USCIS would like us to wait 90 days but really can't afford to wait all that much longer than 90 days and would like to get the ball rolling to at least get it by 90 days. I went to USCIS web site trying to figure out how to initiate an inquiry but it was so dam difficult. I was just going in circles, I tried the option "did not receive card" and had to select a form, so I picked I-485 and provided their IOE# but then it complained the receipt ....isn't right for that form. I didn't see an option for folks who already arrived in the US to even set an appointment. I created an account to see if I can send a secure message, but once in I didn't see an option to send a secure message. Pls advise.

Green Card Mailing upon entry

Upon entry, their immigrant visa automatically turned into an I-551 (proof of permanent residency) valid until 1 year after their date of entry. So they are fine with leaving and returning to the US without having received the plastic green card (which is also an I-551 document), as long as they return less than 1 year after their original entry.
This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
