GC minor travelling alone and staying out of USA for 10 months

I'm a US citizen living in USA, my 13 year old son got his GC through me last year, he entered USA in June 2021 and we tried to get his US passport but it was not possible because I couldn't show proof that he was permanently residing with me in USA. He had to travel back to Dom. Republic in September 2021 due to school issues and had to stay there until this upcoming July. He's travelling back to USA alone, with permits from both his parents, but I'm afraid he now might have trouble at CBP due to his overstay abroad. What could happen to him? What options do we have? This time he's staying here but I'm afraid CBP could revoke his GC due to abandonment.
