Can I stay out of the country while my reentry permit case is pending

Hi

I have applied my reentry permit in Aug 2021 and it is still pending at Nebraska service center, I travelled to India in Oct 2021 its been more then 10 months I have applied and waiting for re-entry permit. Currently the processing time shows as 12 months. Is it ok if I wait for my re-entry permit or should I travel before Oct 2022 (Before One year complete).

If you stay out of US for more than 12 months, it's assumed you have abadoned your US residency. As such, it's best for you to travel before 12 months in absence of a valid re-entry permit.
