passport validity

    i am an indian citizen holding an india passport & usa green card.

    my passport expires in apr2024.

    currently in india. flying india-usa in sept2023 on a one-way ticket. planning return in feb2024ish (ticket not purchased yet).

    returning back, will the airline book my ticket/permit boarding. (passport validity will be 2 months in feb2024).

    like i said, flying back to home country.

    Depends on the airline employee. The U.S. does not care about your foreign passport:

      you mean it depends on the airline employee's whim, regardless of the rules? sounds arbitrary if it's true.

        It's up to the airline's rules. The US government allows airlines to board green card holders for travel to the US without any passport at all, but just because airlines are allowed to do it doesn't mean they have to do it. An airline can have rules that say that they will not board people without a passport, and they can impose their own rules on required validity of passport if they wanted to.
