How long can stay out side of US

A green card holder wants to stay out side of the US for 6 month to 1 year. Are there any special document required? Will her GC be taken away if she stays more then 6 month but less than 1 year out side of US when she enters US?

She can stay outside of the u.s no more than one year. If she leaves for more than a year she needs to get re enrty permits before leaving the u.s. otherwise they might consider her as if she abandoned her LPR status.
