My mom has a Green card for 2 years now. She is unable to find a job and never taken any SSI, food stamps or any government benefits. She wants to go to college and acquire a new skill using the FAFSA (federal student aid). If she takes this federal aid or any financial aid from the college, will it affect her when she will apply for citizenship in the future?
I am her petitioner and filled the affidavit of support for her. Would i get into any liability if she takes the aid?
Will the federal government come after me in the future for that money and can i pay it at that time to resolve it?
