Abandonment of GreenCard

How long does it take to abandon the GC when you submit the surrender application I-407?[When you submit through post]When do you get the surrendered form back?Does it take too long?or you will get it in weeks?
Any help will be appreciated

You have to do that at the U.S. embassy/consulate in person and it is immediate.
