  • Unanswered questions on I-90

Filled out the I-90 online at the USCIS site for a normal renewal of green card for the Mother in Law. After checking it twice I submitted it and paid the fees etc. Got the confirmation PDF file via email then noticed I didn't answer the following questions:

3.) City of Residence where you applied for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status: LOS ANGELES

4.) Consulate where immigrant visa or USCIS office where adjustment of status was granted: LOS ANGELES FIELD OFFICE

6.) Have you ever been ordered removed from the United States? NO

7.) Since you were granted permanent residence, have you ever filed Form I-407….etc.? NO

I put the answer in the above questions but on the app we left them blank or unchecked. I didn't know at first what the adjustment to status meant, She never had a Visa so I thought it didn't apply to her. Seems a lot of people get confused on that part. 'Adjustmet of Status' to me is just a nebulous term that could mean a lot of things and if you use 'Visa' why not just ask 'Where you got your permanent residency or your green card too?

The other two questions just dropped the ball on. So frustrating as you can't go back in and add something!!! Why would you file efile if you can't do that , thats the convenience of an online app. in my opinion. So there goes $450.00 bucks I suppose. Says the only thing you can do to 'change' info is bring it with you to your Biometrics appointment. I don't need to change it , i need to add it lol.

Also she is in Virginia now until Late August, I wonder if you can reschedule the biometrics appt?

Will they reject this app you think? I'm hoping they will at least send a notice saying please correct it.

It never gave us a checklist of supporting docs you need to send in either, and the instructions don't note anything. I've heard you should at least mail in a copy of your green card.

Do you think mailing in the changes to the application with the copy of the green card would help? It says not to do that but I don't see what else I can do at this point.
