Hi, I came to India with my husband and 3 year old daughter in feb 2011, after coming we decided to settle down in India permanently. So my husband left us in India saying he will come back, and he kept my passport GC, my daughter's PIO and passport at his father.Now situation is changed, and I want to go back to US, and my GC will expire within a month, but they are not giving us back our docs. I know it's illegal but don't want to file police complaint against them so is there any other way to get my docs back from US embassy before it expires?

Did you have conditional GC for 2 years or had you ROC and have 10 yr GC?
If you want to go back to US you will need your GC otherwise no entry. Are you still married?
