  • Country of Birth on Green Card

My Parents arrived in the US on immigrant visa two weeks ago. We just received their Green card two days ago. My parents were born before partition in cities that are now in Pakistan. All the forms that I filled out in the petition, I wrote "Undivided India" as the country of birth. But, on the card, the country of birth for both says "Pakistan". Is it normal for USCIS to do this or I should be trying to get it changed?

Does it make any difference ?

What citizenship do they hold? Do they have an indian passport, or a paki one ?

They are Indian nationals and have Indian passport.

You could file an I-90 and request a change - should be free as it is not your fault. Or you could request an INFOPASS appointment to discuss the case. Or you could call the NCSC at 1-800-375-5283 and see if you can get an answer about why the country is PAKISTAN and not INDIA.

I would start by calling, then the INFOPASS, then the I-90 if necessary.

If they used priority dates corresponding to Pakistan, it is better to leave it as it is.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

That would be generally true - but the OP says they're his parents.

We both know LPRs cannot file an immigrant petition for their parents - so either they got the GC through DV, or most probably, the OP is a USC - hence, quotas would not apply & he doesn't have to worry about PD.

Yes, it could be EB GC - don't think that's the case here
