  • Is the A# the Registration Number in Visa

    Hi,
I had got my Immigrant Visa to the US recently. I'm currently applying to a few universities and I need my A#. Since I have not entered the US yet, I'm not quite sure which one it is. I have got a E35 or Employment Based Visa thru my mom. The visa is in my passport. There are two numbers in it... the IV CASE NUMBER and also the Registration Number. Is this 8-digit Registration Number the A#?

    Thanks

"Is this 8-digit Registration Number the A#?"

I don't quite know what kind of numbers you got in your passport. I only got one, and that's the A#.
The immigrant visa has a number in the upper right corner, IV-xx,xxx,xxx.
That's basically the A#. You arrive at the 9-digit real A# by prepending a 0.

      Well...

Well I have two numbers in my Visa.

      1) IV Case Number : ABD200363900105

      2) Registration Number: 55161373

From what you say I guess it could be the CASE NUMBER minus 'ABD2003'. What do you think?

        Re: use the registration number

No, it is the registration number. That has the full 8 digits.
The case number is the number the case received at the consulate (ABD2003 shows the consulate abbreviation ABD and the year, for example.)
