Extend the stay in India

What is the procedure for a green card holder who is already in India if he/she wants to extend the stay. My Aunt left to India 5 months back and now wants to extend it till one year.

There is no procedure as far as India immigration is concerned. The person is still the citizen of India and can stay as long as she wants.

As far as maintaining the green card, reentry permit needs to be filed from the U.S. if she wants to stay outside the U.S. for more than 6 months.

Can anybody appy the reentry permit from USA on behalf of the person, if the person is already in India?
