  • wrong A#

We (me and my wife) had got out green cards last april. My wife went to India for the first time after getting her green card. Today while boading the Immigration people at Delhi found out that the A# on her passport (when we got the stamp) and the plastic card are different. After matching her fingerprints they let her board the plane, but again the immigration at Singapore stopped her again for this error. Wanted to know if she could have a problem when she comes to LA? and if there is anything I could tomorrow during the day before she arrives in LA? Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mr Rx,

Interesting problem. My problem is different but falls in the same category.

My wife got her Plastic card with the correct A# BUT the date of getting the immigration is printed as ONE YEAR before she actually immigrated. The expiry date is the same as mine.

Obviously this is a typographical error but we do not want to send it back to the INS since there are terrible delays and we may not get the card back at all, or may get it back with this problem corrected and create another problem

Any suggestions from people out there what should be the right course of action?

    Thanks:rollin

      Re: wrong date

The right course of action is to go to your local USCIS office and file an I-90 to have it corrected.
The I-551 stamp in the passport has the same legal value as the actual card.
