  • ETA Online Permit for US citizen (born overseas) Visiting Australia

    Hi There

This may be a common question but just would like to know if a US Naturalized Citizen was born in a country that is not listed as a Visa Waiver country list
for Australia. If I like to go to Australia for visit, am I allowed to apply online to get ETA for Australia?
I am asking this question because while I was filling out the form online for ETA Australia, there was a question, "Country you were Born" - I wrote the country where I was born but it didn't allow me further to fill up the application with the message "You are not eligible for applying ETA"

Does anyone have a similar experience with the process for ETA?
Your input on this information would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

So, if you're a US citizen but born in a country not on Australia's ETA list, you won't be able to apply for an ETA online. The ETA is specifically for citizens of certain countries with visa waiver agreements. However, don't worry! You can still apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600), which allows US citizens to visit Australia for tourism or business. You'll need to go through a different application process, possibly online or via a visa application centre. For the best advice tailored to your situation, it's a good idea to check out the official Australian immigration website or speak with a migration agent.
