  • claiming for less experience time than I actually have

Hello everyone, could someone give me a opinion please?

I have an approved skill assessment from Vetassess with 4 years of validated overseas experience (I worked part time remotely for a overseas company). This experience was validated until January of 2023.

However, in August 2022 I started working in a company here in Australia, and now that I'm about to do my EOI, in order to gain 5 points of local experience in August of 2023, I don't know if I can put my experience overseas until August 2022 (even in the skill assessment is until Jan/23).

I am concerned about the issue of overlapping during the 2 work periods (aug/22 to jan/23) but also concerned of claiming the points until august/2022 and in the skill assessement says until jan/23...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

It is critical to follow the Australian Department of Home Affairs' standards and regulations for the points claimed in your Expression of Interest (EOI). You can claim those points in your EOI until January 2023 because your abroad job experience has been confirmed by Vetassess.

You can claim points for your local experience in Australia once you have completed 12 months of full-time employment in your specified occupation. Because you began working in Australia in August 2022, you would be allowed to claim the 5 points for local experience in your EOI beginning in August 2023, once you have completed 12 months of work in Australia.

To minimize any confusion or possible concerns with overlapping work periods, it is critical that your EOI and any supporting paperwork you supply are clear and correct. If you're unclear how to proceed, consult with a qualified migration agent who can analyze your individual circumstances and give advise on how to appropriately report your job experience in the EOI.

Remember that applying for a visa is a crucial step, and any errors or omissions in your application might jeopardize your immigration procedure. Seeking expert counsel can assist you in ensuring that your application is handled appropriately and that you have the highest chance of success.

It's understandable to feel unsure about claiming points for your skilled migration application, especially when it comes to overlapping work periods. Since your Vetassess assessment validates your overseas experience until January 2023, it might be safer to claim those points until then. For your local experience in Australia starting from August 2022, you could consider claiming points from August 2023 onward to avoid any potential issues. It's always a good idea to double-check with a migration advisor for personalized advice.
