Mobile & Purchase in USA

Hi friends,
I am an Indian going to visit USA at California (8 Days) & Columbus (6 Days).
I like to know, can I take my Mobile (Tri Band, GSM) with me or I have to purchase Calling card over their?

Is it advisable to buy Mobile in USA, as I am coming back after 15 Days?

What are things can I buy from there? Which are Cheaper & Better than India?
I had listened that some stuff for new born baby are much better in USA.
Is it true? If yes then which I mean like Diaper…….
