Question about the reentry permit. I really aprriciate your help !!!

Hi everyone!
I intend to travel to my country at the end of this year, may be before Christmas and going to come back after 1 month. Do I have to apply for the reentry permit? Because in some recent days, I've heard someone tell me that the U.S immigration just released the law that they gonna have you show the reentry permit at anytime you come back to the U.S either you leave aboard for either 1 day or a year and this law is going to apply at the end of this year 2006. I'm really confused right now because I check on this website and they just say that i will need the reentry permit if I intend to stay out for more than 1 year. I am not sure whether it's true or not, can anyone tell me any information about this? is this law real?

I don't know who has spread this rumor among Vietnamese people. So many people from Vietnam people are asking this question.

No, if you are going out of US for less than 6 months, you do NOT require any re-entry permit.
