Left Hand Drive & Import Duty
You can import a left hand drive car in India, you need to have a plate that reads it's a LEFT HAND DRIVE car.
The import is managed through STC or State Trading Corporation.
However, you're better off selling your car here and getting a new/old one in India. That will not only come out cheaper but will be easier to maintain in the long run.
Good luck.

you can import indian made cars without any tax
eg mahindra scorpio is available in dubai
if you want to bring your land cruiser , you have to pay 100% of its market value as tax , if you are returning to india as transfer of residence,
thats how salman khans suv is still in the name of some one in kasargode

Whether they allows you or not, I suggest not to import left hand car in India as it would be more difficult to drive on road looking the traffic condition. While India has some of the very good international brands that fits all standards and you can also go for used car buy for trial base as you can get it on cheaper rate also.Last edited by Johnlewis82; 10-29-2010, 07:11 AM.
