Hello,
I have a question that I could use advisement on. My Uncle became a naturalized citizen on the united states in 1983. In June of
1984 he went on an emergency trip to India without getting a Visa and used his Indian Passport. When he was leaving from india 2 weeks
later he indicated to the Indian Immigration that he used his indian passport. He was given a temporary stay stamp on his USA passport and
they impounded his Indian passport.
Now he is currently trying to apply for a PIO card. Within the documentation that asked for they ask for proof of renunciation. If you dont have your old passport
then you need to fill out the Affidevit of Loss which you need to attest that is was lost. We dont want to give any false information so I was wondering if anyone had
any advise as to how to address this situation? Do we write a note? Do we pay the $250 penalty? What would be the best course of action?
Thank you in advance for your help!
