7th year stamping possible at Nogales

      hi,

i have been to there before and yes you can get it stamped in your 7th year but i believe the rules have changed now. Previously you use get becak your passport the very same day around 3:00PM but these days i believe it is a 3 days affair. The first day you have to go in for your photograph and finger scanning and the next day you have to go for your interview and on the third day you collect your passport from the courier which i believe is DHL. So you see it is three days stay in MExico.

I am also planning to go there for my stamping sometime around dec or 2nd week of jan 2013. Would really appreciate if you could email me at [email protected].

      Thanks

Successful H1 stamping (renewal) at Nogales dec, 2012

Had a successful H1b renewal stamping at Nogales on December 18, 2012. Just wanted to share my experience because I know I was looking for some info before I started my process but I couldn’t fine none.
Previously you could wrap it up in one day. You go to the consulate in the morning and if your visa got approved , you go back to the consulate at 3:00PM the same day to collect your passport and then head back to the border to cross over. But these days it is a three day affair. On the first day it is for your biometric info, the second day is your interview and on the third day you pick up your passport from a DHL courier office if you visa is approved.
            This is how it goes:
I landed at Tucson International airport and got a shuttle from Tucson to the border ($20) and it takes little more than an hour to reach. Once you reach the airport or go to the Shuttle service counter at the airport and they would help you out or you can call any one of the numbers (http://mexicandoctorsdir.com/sahuaro_shuttle.htm). You get a shuttle every 30 min going to the border. I didn’t rent a car because you have to pay for it and it will be sitting in the parking lot on the other side of the border for 3 days but anyhow it is up to you.
Once you get to the border just walk across and check into a hotel. I stayed at the “Hotel Fray Marcos de Niza”. It is the only 6 storey building just on the other side of the border. You can see the building as you are approaching the boarder. I stayed there because it is safe. You can walk to that hotel after you go across.
Next day take a cab and go to the ACS center for your biometric. Talk to one of the hotel attendant and he will call a cab for you and will even explain the address to him. The cab will charge you $5 or $7. It takes hardly 10 min and you should be done with it. They would need your passport and your DS-160 form.
The ACS address is (please check it when booking your appointment) :
            Centro Corporative Noreto,
            Calle reforma Esquina con Periferico
            Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta,
            Nogales Sonora, CP 84000
Next day as per your appointment take a cab and go to the consulate. The cab would charge you 70 peso or $7. Depending on your interview and if your visa is approved you have to go to the DHL courier and pick it up. You get to select the one from the different DHL store they have when you take the appointment. I had selected the one below and it is a stone throw distance from the consulate.
            Av alvaro Obregon (Plaza maquina)
            Lomas de Nogales 2
            Nogales, SONORA
            84047
Please note. Check the address when booking .
