  • Canadian PR needs to work in US - Is commuting OK?

I would like to preserve my Canadian PR status by living in Windsor but also work for a company in Michigan, commuting across each day. I've been told that so long as I reside in Canada overnight each night then that counts towards Canadian residency. However, I'm worried because I've seen Nishant's response to the contrary. Can anyone else offer an opinion, or point to any documentation, as the only document I can find is about residency obligations which talks about the number of days required - but it is unclear what counts as a day - where you sleep? number of hours of the 24? who pays for you? which country's taxes you pay? - etc. Any responses would be appreciated.
    Thanks. John.

    Hi,

I am in a similar situation as yours, just that I have not moved into Canada yet, but planning to move there and commute to Detroit on a weekly basis (Mon-Thus). Did you find any pointers on this? Can you please let me know if you have received any replies or guidance?

    Thanks.
