  • Canadian Immigration visa refused after being issued

I am a landed immigrant in Canada since 2001. Then, I sponsored my parents in Canada for immigration in 2003. They got the visa approval in late 2005. However, two weeks after they had received the immigration visa it was canceled. The reason is my (sponsor) residence.

I work in Detroit, Michigan, USA. So I lived in Windsor, Canada. It was easy for me to commute to my work from Windsor. I did maintain this physical presence/residence until I get my American immigration in early 2005. Once I received my US green card I moved to Detroit. However, i did maintain my address in Canada and paid taxes for all four years. The visa officer somehow got my recent residence in Detroit and enquired my parents that their immigration visa is cancelled. We really don't know what to do in this situation. This is a great disaster for all of us.

Is there any way to claim the canadian immigration visa back for my parents. By the way, I cannot surrendar my US immigratin visa because I can't work in my present company without that. I also didn't apply for canadian citizenship earlier.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Canada gives immigrant visa and expect its immigrant to contribute to Canadian economy and not US economy. In your case, your period in Canada could not be counted for residence in Canada even though you lived in Canada since you worked in US.

The only option you have to complete 5 year green card period in US, get US citizenship and then sponsor your parents.
