  • F2A now F1 Mexico VISA list

Hello, I am new to these forums and just read another post relating to the same situation I'm currently at with my visa process, except that the posts was related to other countries (India & Phillipine) Mexico. I'm trying to get help regarding my status and see if I could benefit from what I read on that post.

I was brought from Mexico on a Visa when I was 4 years old. I am now 35 years old. My parents did not take advantage of the reform back in the 90's so they applied applied for us (5 siblings) thought the family unity program and we were approved in 1996. So my priority date is Feb 1996. 3 of my siblings have already become residents or citizens through marriage. Me and another older sister are waiting for our priority dates. My father became a US Citizen and we are now older than 21 (unmarried) so I'm under the assumption we have been moved from the F2A to F1 category. The F2A category priority date as of today is 01FEB14 vs the F1 is 15NOV94. I saw on the other post that you may be able to opt-out, or in other words stay under the original category. If that is true, our priority date has already passed by by a lot meaning that we should have been able to get our change of legal status. Does anyone have or has had a similar situation. Any suggestions? I will contact all related Inmigration locations such as NVC, Department of Homeland Secutiry, etc. I've gone to several lawyers and they have all said that we have to wait for out date from F1 which is taking a LIFETIME. Any help is appreciated.

PS I speak spanish as well if anyone would prefer to reply in spanish.
