  • fingerprint card to FBI

    Hello,
I sent in my fingerprint card for FBI check to the address listed for US in the Canadian Permenant residency application kit last year in April with money order for specified amount. . I never heard back from them. I even sent out an inquiry letter for which also I never heard back. Has anyone else had this problem?

    thanks very much.

FBI takes 20 to 30 days to send back signed papers.

FBI takes 20 to 30 days to send back signed papers.

Once you mail them finger printed papers. They will take 20 to 30 days time.

How to get finger print card

Open telephone directory. Look in category 'Finger print service' etc. You have to look in directory of big city, not suburbs.

Then go to Fienger print service. They will show you hoeto do it. They charges $18 for using their ink and showing procedure. $2 for blank finger print card.

Then, mail them to FBI. visit www.cic.gc.ca you will get more info.

            Canadian PI.

            Your Question:

            Thanks very much vsshah.

            My Answer:
            -----------
I have got PR to Canada 2 days back.
Let me give you some hints.

Once you file application to Buffalo. they will verify proper fees, and then assign you FILE #. I think, it should take 2 months.

After that, you have to use that FILE # in all correspondense with Buffalo embassy. You have to write that FILE# on your cover out side, above TO, address.
So, directly, it will go to related dept, who is handling your application.

After 2 months(almost) getting FILE#, your file will be transferred to New location, to make burden less to 1 Buffalo embassy. It may go to New York, and any of 4 centers in USA.

Then, you will get Notice of Interview OR Medical examination letter.

Finish whatever they told to you.

I think, it is not exact answer.

You can do ultimate 1 thing. Visit www.cic.gc.ca. Call them and leave message. But they may ask for File#, which you dont have. Then/Otherwise you may send them Email also, with your contact #, they will call you in 2 days.

Very soon, I will put my experience over here, on this site.

            Best luck.

                    Better to take IELTS !!

It is always better yo have the Language proficienct test as proof. And send it to the CIC center where you have applied. That way you can save few months which otherwise will be consumed by CIC center contacting you and then taking IELTS and then sending result. My suffestion is to take and submit even before they ask you.

I heard that now a days they are asking almost all applicants who applied in Skilled worker catagory.

I got my PR last month and waiting to move to Canada.
                    wishing you all the best.

Dont do unless they ask you to do so !!

                      Chinnappa

Pl dont go for FBI / Police Clearance , as they did not ask you yet. They will let you know at the time they ask you for medicals. That time you will have enough time to do all this. More over these FBI test results are valid for one year only...so if you apply for FBI and submit with application they may ask you again by the time the application assesment is complete ( by which almost an year will be over by that)..so dont take now... This does not applicable to IELTS as the IELTS result add points to your assesment and make the CIC officer take decision and request you to go for medicals and request you to submit FBI report .

First thing is the FBI check

Actually when i submitted my application for Skilled Worker category, the attorney who represented me and the actual application form did make mention that the police checks must accompany the initial application. Since I lived in the US for more than 6 months before returning to my country of citizenship, it wa s mandatory for me to include the FBI check. Took me one month to receive the fingerprint cards from the FBI in Oklahoma, and a a further 3 months to get the criminal check completed by them. It does take a long time when one is not present in the USA.
