Canada Permanent Resident - Entry Question

I am curretly in the US and I am returnign back to India in April first week (Visa expired). My canada imigration application has been finalized today and got a message to send my passports for stamping. I was told that visa will be granted until 1 year from the date of Medicals. My medicals were completed in April-04 and if this is the case, it is not posible for me to enter Canada now with the Visa.

What are my options. some one suggested that I must reapply for medicals and that will give me enough time since candaian imigration authorities will call for my passports again.

Some one else suggested that if I can enter the country for a day, and apply for somekind of id (similar to SSN in USA), I can return back immdtly and I will have additiona l2 years to re-enter.

I am confused, please help.

mostly you are correct !!

Please email CIC , they will let you know the right proedure. Most likely your guess is correct. You may be asked to take the medicals one more time and have them sent to the CIC, so that they can grant visa from new medicals date till next year medicals date....so you will be fine then.
