    Just ask

Hina I did the application on my own and it was no problem at all. If I had paid an attorney to assist me it would have cost me a lot of money and I still would have had to do all the work myslef. The time consuming problem with the application is in getting the documents together and getting them notarized and this takes a lot of time and is quite expensive. I had to get about 14 documents notarized and this cost a lot of money, about $400 USD. I also had to get my police character reference and this took another two months. I did not have to do the IELTS test as English is the native language of the country of which i am a citizen. I also had to get all information as to my addresses and employment history for the past 18 years and that took a lot of time. So all in all the actual problem is in getting all the information together but if you paid someone for assistance, all they would do is to advise you as to what you need and then you would have to pursue these documents all on your own. I strongly urge anyone submitting an application for immigration, to do so on their own and seek the advice of others and simply go to the Canadian website as all the information is there and it is totally free and self explanatory. Good luck to you and hope you get the application in real soon.

      Do it by your self

You need to send in the Application along with all the documents necessary as indicated by the CA Immigration Web site.
      Key Points
      ------------
      1. Don't even think about the PCC certificates now (let the Imm. dept. request for them).
      2. Notarize all the documents that are going with the Applications (if u r in US u can get it done at your Bank or at AAA (if u are a member)).
      3. Mail the filled in Applications with Proper fees (see web site for payment methods they accept).

hope this helps you. May God be with you.

        After IELTS

        Hi Antonyall
Thanks for all the information, I did my application myself too but just to be safe went thru an Immigration firm....however I think i knw alot more than the firm. I am on a work permit in Canada and applied for my PR in July 06, I got my file no. within a months time and within 4 months they asked for IELTS results. I submitted that in March 07....now do u have any idea how long does it take to hear back the Immigration Deptt. (Buffalo) after you submit the IELTS and also I have been in Canada for 2 years now on a work permit, do u think they will ask for PCC next????

          way ahead

Smokei! It appears that you are in a much better position than I and the mere fact that you are actually there in Canada and employed menas that you will get your PR much sooner than if you were applying outside Canada. Hence I dont have any information for you that will benefit you a s you appear to know more than I do. I cna only suggest to you that you dont rush things ebcause you are already there and it is not a matter of "IF" you will get your PR, but the question is how soon. So i give my my best wishes and congratulate you because you are already on your way to a much better life with better prospects for the future. So long buddy!
